Day 2: When Disappointment Distorts Our Vision

Reading: 2 Kings 6:15-17 -- Elisha prays that his servant's eyes would be opened to see the heavenly army surrounding them, revealing that God's presence was greater than the visible threat.

Devotional:

The two disciples walking to Emmaus were not walking alone. Jesus himself fell into step beside them. Yet they could not see Him. Their grief had narrowed their vision. Their disappointment had become a lens that filtered out the very presence they needed most. This is one of the enemy's most effective strategies -- not to remove God from our circumstances, but to blind us to the fact that He is already there. When pain consumes our attention, we stop looking for the one who is closest to us in that pain. Today, ask God to open your eyes to where He is already moving in your situation.

Has a season of disappointment ever caused you to stop looking for God's presence in your daily life?

What might you be missing right now because pain has narrowed your vision?

Practical Application: Spend five minutes in silence today -- no phone, no noise. Simply ask God to show you where He is present in your current circumstances. Write down anything that comes to mind.
