Day 4: Moving Into the Neighborhood
Devotional: "The Word became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood." What an extraordinary statement! Jesus didn't remain distant or detached. He moved in. He experienced hunger, exhaustion, temptation, rejection, and pain. He knows what it's like to live in your neighborhood—whatever that looks like.
Maybe your "neighborhood" is rough. Perhaps it's a place of addiction, broken relationships, financial stress, or deep disappointment. The beautiful truth of Christmas is that Jesus willingly moved into the roughest neighborhoods of human experience to bring transformation and hope.
He didn't come to the religious elite first. He came to shepherds, outcasts, and ordinary people struggling through life. Wherever you are today—whatever mess surrounds you—Jesus has already moved in. He's not shocked by your circumstances. He's present, bringing light, hope, and the promise of transformation.
Reflection: In what area of your life do you need to recognize that Jesus has "moved into the neighborhood"?
